Description
Since 1921, Alessi, often known as the Italian design factory, has been producing home furnishings. A surreal design created to highlight how the past and present are balanced. The all-steel Veneer Serving Tray from Alessi, designed by Patricia Urquiola, takes what we know as wood and reinterprets its most recognizable elements. The artwork highlights Urquiola's intense interest, showing how she is constantly examining and re-connecting with things we frequently overlook. Urquiola considered using steel, a modern, robust material, to capture the artistic individuality of wood, which is all around us. She accomplishes this by embossing the wood to highlight its wavy, artistic grain. The piece's wide design allows the contours to spread out and offer an intriguing backdrop for any delicious culinary item.
